Coach's Corner: Fall 2008 The following quotes are from Coach Guy to the players enrolled in off-season lacrosse. Although not all players are able to participate in this class, it is important to know his expectations of anyone who wants to play in the regular season. "Most of you at the summer camp realize that I have every intention of making lacrosse a success here at NHS. This class is the first step of many, to make this program grow in popularity and success at the school. In order to compete with the high level teams in this league and county, it is essential that the skills of the team increase to meet this level. However, the only way we will get to this level will be to work hard, often. While we will not be conducting full scale practices, we will be working on all of the necessary skills that, once put together in the regular season, will amount to a strong team and program.""As a member of this team, you are a representative of every piece of this team. Remember that you are setting the expectation for what people will think of this team and program. Thus, I expect that all students and staff are treated with the same respect you would give to me and your teammates on the field. As a new sport, it is imperative that we prove ourselves each and every day. We must prove that we have the highest integrity, the best personality, the strongest work ethic and most determination. These qualities will not only help you on the lacrosse field, but will help you as a student, and will enhance the view people have about our team and sport." "Just as it is important to train your body to be able to perform on the field, it is also important to keep a focus on your grades. Use your time in school each day wisely – use tutorial to seek out help from teachers. It is important to remember that in order to be eligible to play the game, you must first be a good student."
